“At 15 years old, a sophomore in high school, I was extremely shy and often felt like I was living in a shell. I was the student who never wanted to join clubs or sports and was hesitant about getting involved in any after-school programs. After hearing about Girls Inc D.C. from a close friend, I decided to take a major risk and become a part of the organization. To this day, I thank her for proposing me to join, as I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I gained countless valuable experiences and met many inspiring people. If it weren’t for the organization, I truly would not be the smart and confident woman I am today.”
